MORE professional island rugby
players are coming forward with
stories of exploitation by clubs
in Europe.
And the Pacific Rugby Players
Welfare, which is rounding up
professional players from the Pa-
cific plying their trade there, says
it is now working with clubs to
ensure island players get proper
advice to avoid exploitation and
cope with the difficult transition
to life there.
Former Samoan international
Dan Leo, in his final years with
Bishop’s Stortford RFC in the
National League One, was instru-
mental in setting up the PRPW
after seeing some of his friends
struggling to settle in Europe.
