“When we stand together,we have the greatest voice”

Leaving her post after six years as Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, Dame Meg Taylor spoke with Islands Business correspondent Nic Maclellan about the state of Pacific regionalism. Here are excerpts from that interview, on US-China tensions, Fiji’s strategic role, and the need for a collective Pacific voice.

When you were appointed as Secretary General in 2014, Fiji had been suspended from the Pacific Islands Forum for five years. Now as you leave, Fiji is about to become Forum chair. How do you see Fiji’s role in Pacific regionalism?
