MacArthur James Born and bred on the island of Pohnpei in the Federated
Bachelor of International States of Micronesia, MacArthur James came to AUT on
Hospitality Management in a New Zealand Pacific Scholarship to study a Bachelor of
Tourism International Hospitality Management.
“I chose to study this programme because it offers a wide
range of study areas, which will open up more career
opportunities for me.
“I’m majoring in tourism to understand the broader concept
of tourism development, and ultimately to contribute to the
expansion of the tourism industry in my country.
“Once I have completed my studies at AUT, I would like to
help develop the tourism industry back home, as I think our
country will depend on tourism in the coming years, and I
really want to be a part of the expanding industry.”
MacArthur chose to come to AUT because of its reputation.
“I’d heard such good things about AUT and I love being in
the middle of Auckland City. It’s so big and exciting. I know
I’m lucky to be here.”
