              Tarau Bauia was born on Kuria, an outer island of Kiribati.      Tarau Bauia
              Growing up in this rural area, Tarau worked in the copra         Master of Service-Oriented
              fields from a young age and saw education as an opportunity.     Computing alumnus
              Armed with a bachelor’s degree, Tarau worked as an IT manager
              for Kiribati’s Public Utilities Board (PUB). He wanted to learn more
              about interactive computing systems, so he applied for the New
              Zealand Pacific Scholarship to complete a Master of Service-Oriented
              Computing at AUT.
              “AUT is internationally recognised and the knowledge and skills I gained are
              helping me make changes in my country. The academic staff really want to help
              you, with one-on-one guidance from lecturers and different workshops and
              facilities to support you throughout your studies.”
              Since graduating from AUT Tarau is now reaping the benefits of his in-depth

              “I recently became a fellow in the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned
              Names and Numbers) 61 conference held in Puerto Rico this year. I also travelled                                      Nadi 666 1899
              to Suva to attend the Fiji Blockchain Techcamp and regularly contribute to the
