“ I want to

                                                                               make a real

                                                                               difference to

                                                                               my country.”

                                                                                Ronney Kenitahana

                                                                                Master of Health Informatics
While working for the World Health Organization (WHO) in his (First-class honours) alumnus
native Solomon Islands, Ronney Kenitahana saw a disconnect
between collected healthcare data and the information used to
              support decision-making in government.
“There is a real need to utilise technology to capture and analyse that data
accurately and efficiently, so that it can support healthcare workers, research, public
health programmes, as well as policy makers.
“At AUT, I worked on an applied research project to explore viable Electronic Health
Records (EHR) systems options for countries with small economies like the
              Solomon Islands.”
Having graduated with his master’s degree in 2017, Ronney is now working in
Honiara as the national consultant for the United Nations Conference on Trade and
Development (UNCTAD) eCommerce/eTrade Readiness Assessment for the Solomon
Islands. He says he is looking to make a real impact in the healthcare sector.
Ronney’s hard work was recognised with a Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
New Zealand Pacific Scholarship Achievement Award in 2016.
